{"id":608,"date":"2018-05-22T15:27:12","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T15:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phplist.com\/blog\/?p=608"},"modified":"2019-01-03T12:30:07","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T12:30:07","slug":"managing-subscribers-consent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phplist.com\/blog\/managing-subscribers-consent\/","title":{"rendered":"Managing subscriber&#8217;s consent using phpList"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Managing subscriber consent correctly will become even more important on Friday, when Europe enacts new data protection <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=uriserv:OJ.L_.2016.119.01.0001.01.ENG\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=uriserv:OJ.L_.2016.119.01.0001.01.ENG\">legislation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re unsure of whether all your subscribers have provided you with adequate consent to receive your messages, it&#8217;s easy to request it again using your phpList account.<\/p>\n<h2>Re-requesting permission<\/h2>\n<p>The simplest way to obtain consent is to send a re-permission campaign asking all recipients to re-confirm their consent.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 401px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/news.hosted.phplist.com\/images\/image\/Selection_416.png\" width=\"401\" height=\"214\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Select &#8216;Invite&#8217; to make your campaign request consent<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To do this, simply prepare a new campaign in the usual way (or use <a href=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/samtuke\/31e1ad1848ef94a0eda1a35901ca0e31\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/samtuke\/31e1ad1848ef94a0eda1a35901ca0e31\">this draft message<\/a>), then on the &#8216;Format&#8217; tab of the campaign composer, select &#8216;Invite&#8217;. This will invite all recipients to click the included re-confirmation link. You can choose where to put this link by using the <code>[CONFIRMATIONURL]<\/code> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phplist.org\/manual\/ch017_using-placeholders.xhtml\" target=\"_blank\">placeholder<\/a>. You can also link from a button or image for added impact.<\/p>\n<p>All subscribers you select to receive this campaign will automatically be added to your account&#8217;s blacklist until they re-confirm. When they do, their consent will be noted and stored for future reference, ready for viewing on the Subscriber Details page, as with all subscriber sign-ups and confirmations.<\/p>\n<h2>Ensuring consent is informed<\/h2>\n<p>Do your subscribers know what they&#8217;re signing up to?
